Families are displaced, and transportation grinds to a halt, thrusting the corridor into disarray.

During an inspection of the ravaged two-kilometre stretch at Gamba, Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua highlighted the road's complete severance, compelling travellers to seek alternative routes, and disrupting regular passage.
Notably, the floods have marooned trucks ferrying vital food supplies, potentially disrupting the region's essential goods supply chain and escalating prices.
Undeterred by the havoc, the Deputy Governor, joined by Health CEC Dr Mbarak Bahjaj, assured residents of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy.

To address the crisis, emergency measures have been activated, including deploying a boat at Moa to serve affected areas.
Collaborations with key entities like the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Kenya Coast Guard and Red Cross aim to bolster emergency response and evacuation services, emphasizing preparedness and support for affected residents.
Meanwhile, the Garsen-Witu-Lamu road has been shut down by the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) due to severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall, resulting in the River Tana bursting its banks.
Kenha announced the closure, stating that the affected section of the road was completely submerged.
This closure has raised significant concerns among commuters and travellers, as it hinders travel between Garsen and Witu.
Despite efforts by the Kenya Coast Guard to provide a boat for pedestrian crossings between Gamba and Lango la Simba, this temporary solution presents challenges for those dependent on vehicular transportation.
While it offers some relief, the road's inaccessibility remains a significant obstacle for many individuals.
